Designing books has always held a special place in my heart. Oftentimes it was only the covers I worked on. The good fortune of designing covers for an author who went on to win the Nobel Prize in Literature, winners of the Bread Loaf Writers’ Conference Bakeless Prize, a New York Times reviewed book, and an entire series about essays used in college literature programs has been exciting to say the least. I’ve also been fortunate to design the entire contents for a book about using statistical analytics to support animal shelters (which included developing infographics), a blind golfer’s memoir, a book about leadership, and the first edition of a children’s book, as well as magazine redesigns.
Past book design work has included:
- Multiple book cover designs for an esteemed publisher including The Half-Finished Heaven by the Nobel Prize in Literature 2011 winner, Tomas Tranströmer; The Body's Question and Duende by Tracy K. Smith, 22nd Poet Laureate of the United States; box set of essays by John D'Agata; Mattaponi Queen by Belle Boggs, Bread Loaf Writer's Bakeless Prize; The Next Rodeo by William Kittridge; and more!
- Multiple self-published authors’ cover and content designs (most included oversight from concept to design to editing and the printed book’s completion).
- Multiple catalog designs for a vacation rental company which included managing a broad library of photos, varying pricing, locations, etc.
- Design and branding of two magazine publications: Nashville Bar Journal and Tennessee Bar Journal.
