This year there are other September events that I’m looking forward to other than Labor Day and my birthday: the 9th Annual Women’s Leadership Forum and Tennessee Craft’s Statewide Membership Exhibition at the Customs House Museum and Cultural Center in Clarksville, Tennessee.

The last days of spring and first days of summer have been such a gift of creativity this year: I’ve been developing textile and wallpaper designs, sewing art-pillows for home decor, added pyrography designs on handmade wood products and now I’m in the process of creating my very first wood block print…and it’s BIG! No matter whether something is considered good or bad design, if it gets people to think about it—or better yet evokes an emotional response—it often becomes memorable. Now if it succeeds in getting viewers to think, or purchase, and/or act in a desired way, that’s winning the lottery of design’s true purpose.
