Proud Moments

Last year I designed a piece for a client that I have worked with at least once a year for over 7 years. It's one of my favorite and most challenging projects. This client has impeccable taste and enjoys being a part of the design process probably as much as I do. We make a spectacular team. I blogged about this project last December because it had so many interesting details that don't always come into play: die cuts, embossing, tip-ons (or what I ended up calling tip-ins for this specific project), hand-gluing, a custom designed sleeve for mailing, special binding with 4-color process printed text pages, etc. It was a challenge for all involved in the production process. Special shout out to the fabulous teams Lithographics (Twyla is a designer's dream printing rep), Athens Paper (Kelley Mclaughlin is the best of the best when it comes to paper reps) and MacGraphics (Fred Weisbrodt is the king of not only specialty printing but patience, perseverance and a good dose of reality checks).

Onsite's 2016 annual brochure showcases their fabulous programs that "help people overcome disfunctional patterns and establish healthy relationships" by icorporating embossing, die cuts, tip-ons, and hand-gluing and stitching. They are world-renowned and have been featured on 20/20, Dr. Phil, Good Morning America, among other notable media sources.

This week, I got the news that the brochure we all worked on together for Onsite received the "Best of Category" award from the Printing Industry Association of the South, Inc. (PIAS) in its 2016 Graphic Awards. Woo hoo! Awarded in the "multiple process" category, this is a very proud moment as these awards span five states' entries. According to PIAS, the awards are "designed to recognize and appropriately honor those responsible for the creation, design and production of top-quality printed materials; those which have impact, appeal and effectiveness as sales/marketing, communications or educational medium....The judges evaluate each entry based upon the following criteria: degree of difficulty; quality and technique of reproduction; excellence in creativity, design, typography and general layout; and, if appropriate, unusual applications such as special effects, etc."

Every project I work on is one I endeavor to be noticeably outstanding and when the recognition comes from peers, well it's icing on the cake. My career has many proud moments that I've shared with clients so it's nice to share them here with you. Thank you Lithographics, Athens Paper, McGraphics, and especially to Onsite. You make the things I love to do even better!
